The Nilsson lab focuses on understanding short linear motifs as specificity determinants for PTM modifying enzymes. The focus is on discovery and characterization through integration of biophysics and biochemistry and extending these discoveries to cellular pathways with a focus on cell cycle and cell division.
This project focuses on ubiquitin ligases and DUBs implicated in regulating cell division. The aim is to identify short linear motifs for a number of these enzymes and determine how these motifs contribute to regulation of cell division. The project will combine basic biochemistry and state of the art microscopy.
